If you are not connected to any network and your mac supports wireless networking, choose “Create Network...” from the Airport menu, give the new network a name like for example “CuriosityAndVanity” and click “Ok”.

Then start CuriosityAndVanity and wait for the startup procedure to terminate.

You will be presented with two windows: one titled “Curiosity” and the other titled “Vanity”:

Click on the “+” button on the Vanity window to create a new CuriosityAndVanity website, give your new website a name, and leave the popup menu to “lighttpd”. Then click “Ok” and then “Start”. Your new website appears on the Curiosity window.

Create a new website using Apple iWeb or any other suitable software. In order to get the domain name for your website to properly run with CuriosityAndVanity, go to the Vanity window and click “Info”. Select and copy all the content of the “Domain Name:” text field by double clicking on it. Click “Ok”. Paste the text wherever you need to specify the domain name for this website ( for example in iWeb when publishing to a folder ).

Choose “Open Folder With Finder” from the “Actions” pull down menu. The finder will open to a folder called “www”. Now you can save here your index.html page and the rest of your website. All CuriosityAndVanity users on your network will be able to see your new website. Test this for yourself by double clicking your new website on your Curiosity window.
